Lost..
Amidst the crowd, We have lost each other.. ourselves.
the staged smiles smeared onto our faces.. I wonder.. who we are?
pretentious.. we all are. Fancy, but fake.. I wonder.. why?
Amidst the crowd, We look at each other .. at ourselves.
and wonder.. why did we lose ourselves..
our identities..
maybe the struggle to be someone we are not..
maybe the struggle to be someone others want us to be..
maybe the struggle to just be someone else..
anyone else.. but ourselves..
Because it is safer behind closed doors..
where no one can reach..
and it's easier to be hid behind masks.. to pretend.. and to be someone else..
because there criticism wouldn't hurt.. pain wouldn't reach.. where the soul isn't vulnerable
Borders in lieu of bridges..
Walls all around..
and We are all lonely people lost .. and enclosed by the walls we have built around ourselves .. wondering where the crowd is.. amid where we can find ourselves..

Reminds me a lot of a similar poem we had as a part of our course in class 12 I think. I, for one, hate people pretending to be what they are not.
Hmm, been playing around with templates and CSS, good good.
lol yeah.. studying for my multimedia exam.. :D
Happy new year!!! :)
Haha, nice way to prepare for your multimedia exam indeed ;)
Happy New Year!
maybe the struggle to be someone we are not..

this is very true..all our lives a lot of people infact most of people try or maybe pretend to be someone they are not and not meant to be. Trying to impress the society with what one does the person forgets his/her own needs and ambitions. Mr.Steve Jobs (CEO apple) once said in his speech..
"Almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."
So in simple words..FOLLOW YOUR HEART
And, as Steve Jobs says,
"Stay Hungry, Stay foolish!"
yup.."Stay Hungry,Stay Foolish!"
stay hungry.. stay foolish?? explain..
hehe...the explanation..is there in the speech..
here it goes..
"When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.
Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."
You'll have to read his speech to understand its meaning, or better still, listen to it.
Looks like Varenya just beat me by a second. Anyways, do read/listen to the entire speech, its really nice.
P.S. I think it'll be better if you reduce your blog's font size a bit.
sure okay.. will just do it.. If Im able to figure out how to :D thanks.. for the explanation guys.. :D
"Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
When i read this post of yours,i got reminded of these lines quoted above...we must maintain our individuality and stop trying to be one of the faces of the crowd...our society has in the past, and can even now, sustain a composite and diverse society...so we must just be ourselves...enough of hiding behind masks and faking identities....
Cheers to ur writing nix!!
I have somehow always felt that... no one can really know who they are because "what we are" is not a static concept but a constantly evolving, dynamic one...
the process of loosing ourselves and being reunited with "who we are" will happen in our lives, maybe once or more than that.. becoz who we are keeps constantly changin and in order to find our "newselves" we must get lost... so getting lost isnt all that bad sonika...it might just be wat we need...
i really hope i make sense... :P
my writing is not as clear and communicative as Sonika's... then again her maths ain't as good as mine... lolzz. :P dont have to accept this comment if u dont want!
